Why Should You Use Silk Plants?
Silk plants are a very popular alternative to live plants and are used for many different purposes. Similar to silk plants, many non-live plants may be created from plastic and other forms of cloth. Historically speaking, the process of making fake plants is said to have originated in France. It then moved through the rest of Europe and eventually into the Americas. Today, many silk plants and flowers are made in China. Although they are called silk they are mainly made out of materials that are synthetic in nature.
Types of Silk Plants
Silk Plants may come in many different types. In fact, they can come in just about every style, size, and shape imaginable. Silk plants may come in flower arrangements in glass vases with acrylic water included in the bottom to help them look more realistic. They may also be in the form of various types of house plants. Silk plants may even come in the form of small trees, complete with their own pots. You can also purchase bouquets of silk flowers for weddings and other special occasions.
Reasons to Use Silk Instead of Live Plants
Silk has many potential advantages over live plants. First of all, they dont die. If you have a brown thumb or a pet that likes to eat plants silk plants will survive you (and your pet) far better than a live plant probably would.
Secondly, silk plants can be advantageous in areas where quantities of water would be unwise. For example, if you enjoy looking at live flowers at your desk, silk may be a better option because it will not run the risk of spilling over into your electronics. Similarly, if you have a surface you do not wish to get wet (e.g. an antique table) silk flowers may offer a great advantage over traditional, live house plants or flowers.
A third reason to use silk plants rather than traditional live plants is due to the price. Live flowers in particular can become expensive to have around all the time. A person must buy new flowers often to keep them fresh-looking. Certain types of house plants and small trees can be expensive as well. Silk and other synthetic plants may require an investment to purchase, but they are paid for after that.
Lastly, silk plants may be better in some situations because they are not as messy as live flowers and plants may be. There is never any water spillage and they do not get dirt on surfaces.
