Types of Outdoor Plants


There are so any different kinds of plants all over the world and some of these have become ornamental plants while others are specifically for outdoors. Some plants can be used for indoor decorating while they are still small but as they grow bigger, their size makes them cumbersome to maintain inside the house.

There are no specifications as to which plants are outdoor plants and which can be used indoors. It is simply a matter of preference although size also plays a major role in the choosing. Some peoples houses can accommodate larger plants indoors so they decorate with larger plants. The bigger trees, though, are a bit difficult to maintain indoors so they are most definitely outdoor plants.

Choosing Outdoor Plants

People can still choose what plants to place in their yard or lanai. They do not necessarily need to just let the plants run wild in their gardens. Some choices for outdoor plants with specific uses are plants that can used as hedges or small bushes that may decorate a flagstone path way. People can also plants flowering plants in flower boxes outside their windows for a colorful view or flowering plants can be used instead of hedges.

Other outdoor plants are trees and shrubs which can grow pretty high and spread wide. These are most likely outdoor plants because of their size and width. People love to have trees in their front or backyards. It provides shade and protections against strong winds or rains. It can also serve a home for animals that could be entertaining to watch through the windows. Children love to put up swings in their trees or even tree houses to serve as play areas and club houses. Many a memory has been made with a tree house.

Some other examples of possible outdoor plants are aquatic plants which need to be in a pond or lake. These plants also come on different kinds and different varieties. They can be used to decorate a fountain or even a small man made pond. These plants grow easily and may even cover the entire area of your pond.

Be careful!

You do have to be careful picking out which plant you may want to put in your lawn or yard because some outdoor plants could bear poisonous berries and itchy leaves. These are dangerous to small children and animals. Small children may not be able to resist the colors of the berries and eat them while some animals may consume them also.

We also get our sugar from them and they are also sources of some of our beverages such as wine, coffee and tea.

More currently, with the advent of the video game industry, many games have the characters fleeing a hungry plant creature as they progress through various adventures. Another option is the clover, which is an early summer blooming, low broadleaf plant.
