Many people like plants and it shows because there are so many nurseries around that cater to a broad diversity of nursery plants while there are also other nurseries that specialize in just one kind of plant and its varieties.
People like to buy nursery plants and grow them by themselves. There is a sense of achievement when your plant has grown and is about to sprout flowers or even fruits and vegetables. It is probably this sense of fulfillment that drives many people to nurture plants and raise them.
Caring for Your Plant
Nursery plants often start small and are very convenient to have in the house. As they grow bigger they will need more space than the small pot or plastic container which they are placed in when they come from the nursery. They also need constant care for as long as they live. Factors that affect plant growth are sunlight, water and soil. Needless to say, plants also need carbon monoxide to function properly.
Sunlight is the plants foremost need to survive. It aids the in making their food through a process called photosynthesis. This process occurs in the leaves of the plants and when food is ready it is disseminated allover the plant for efficient growth and health. Nursery plants are also closely monitored while they are in the nursery because some need constant sunlight while others do not.
Water is needed to keep the plants soil or potting mixture moist. The degree of moistness depends on what type of plant you have acquired. Some plants prefer a constantly damp soil while others just need to be watered once or twice a week. The main function of water is to give the insides of the plants moisture and keep them available for transporting food from the leaves to other parts of the plant.
The right soil for most plants is the type that promotes aeration and can retain moisture up to a certain level. Some potting mixes are especially formulated to be airy types of soil and already contain the needed nutrients that nursery plants need to grow. There are also several kinds of potting mixes, it is best to check and read them before buying because some have too much nutrients for nursery plants. This kind of potting mix may only be for adult plants or is added to the current soil for supplements.
Some nursery plants come with care instructions but sometimes these are very broad or even inaccurate. It is better to refer to an expert in plants or just research in the web what kind of plant you have and what type of care it needs.
